Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy for Female Athletes and Runners
A systemic review by Heath et al 2014 found 28-80% of female athletes report urinary incontinence, with prevalence rates higher in the sports with higher impact (jumping, running, etc). Other pelvic floor problems reported by female athletes range from involuntary urinary or fecal leakage, urinary urgency, pelvic pressure or heaviness, or hip or pelvic pain.
During the pregnancy or postpartum stages, female athletes often encounter unique circumstances due to adaptations from a growing baby or changes that may have occurred during the birth process.
At Radiance Physical Therapy, you will receive an individualized approach to managing your symptoms and tailored treatment plan for your needs and sports goals.
